Images from Burning Man and Decompression 2006
below are some pictures of the Explanade taken at Burning Man 2006, and at Decompression in San Francisco.

Above, at Burning Man, the side facing the Esplanade, in the 8' x 20' tent. It was usually full of people, even late at night.

Man at night in Decom Explanade, looking at Crow exhibit

A man contemplates inductive inference at the White Crow exhibit. The red button spins a "slot machine" wheel with cartoon crows. Some people were thrilled to get the white one, a rare occurrence. The picture conveys to me the sense of being alone with one's thoughts. Man in front of photon counter exhibit

A man takes a rest from thinking too hard, in front of the photon counter exhibit. The flashlight at left shines into a box that blocks most but not all the light. The tube exiting it feeds the photon detector, making a ticking sound. At far left is the green glow of the hologram in the Illusions exhibit.

Man and woman at wave exhibit

People listen to pure tones at the wave exhibit. Behind, the Hello Kitty lunch boxes of the Black Boxes exhibit are visible. The exhibits at Decompression were arranged in a hexagon, matching the new tent. This offered easier access so people weren't in each other's way.
